Ryanair plane at Carcassonne airport

Travel to Carcassonne

Easy access by road, rail and air

Carcassonne isn't necessarily close to where you are just at the moment, but it's relatively easy to get to.

By road – Carcassonne is on the A61 autoroute, so it's accessible from anywhere if you're travelling by car. From Channel ferry ports it's about 11 hours' continuous drive (around 1000km). Allow for some stops, maybe overnight, en-route.

By air – there is an airport at Carcassonne with regular Ryanair flights from Dublin, Manchester, Stansted, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Porto and Cagliari. There is a regular bus service between the town centre and the airport.

By train – Carcasssonne has a main line railway station with connections from everwhere within the country.

The gîte is about 15 minutes' walk from the railway station, which is also the stop for the airport bus.
